Alright, well I found a Crosman Quest 1000X- 1000 FPS for $125. Its 1000FPS in .177. But i was wondering if the .177's are enough for a clean kill. Also, it has a spring piston and i wanted to know what that was and what some of the best actions are.

Thanks again!

Spring piston is pretty good, but they require some maintanance. I can guarantee that that gun doesn't shoot 1000 fps.

well, how do you figure out what actually does and does not shoot at whatever FPS? I've heard that when the manufacturers test the product they use the lightest possible pellet.

i have a hard time believing this, a bobcat?!
ORIGINAL: deersniper101

my crossman is the best 1000fps shoot everything have even killed things like bobcat with head shots i love it

hard to believe but not impossible, I killed a large racoon with my benjamin sheridan ( .177 cal, 800 fps at the muzzle ) I put two good shots just behind its shoulder ( crosman wad cutter pellets ) at about 20 yards, that didnt seem to really phase it other then it was bighting itself where the 2 pellets landed the final finishing shot I put a pellet dead center between its eyes at about 10 yards, after flopping around for few seconds it was out for the count. I will give him the benefit of the doubt, but killing animals of the bob cat size with a air rifle is hard to believe but not impossible.

Ive read stories of where 22 cal. air rifles were used by assasins. And have also read about coyotes being taken with 22 cal air rifles and deer being taken with 9mm air rifles, these 9mm air rifles are something else they shoot a 60 grain 9mm pellet at around 1000 fps pretty cool stuff, if memory serves me right I think its RWS that makes that 9mm air rifle.

DAQ makes a .50 caliber airgun.

If you want to test the speed you need to buy a chrony.

I like gamo, my little cousin had a .177 rifle nice spring action. I used to have a 22 cal crosman pump pistol/carbine remove the side pannels and replace with skelton stock. I got rid of it when scope crack and the sightes got nocked off. PA game commission does not approve air rifles to be used for hunting though I can attest they can kill a rabbit. Wish I still had that crossman.
