RE: 12ga to big for squirrels
A 12 ga is just right.
I have shot a lot of squirrels with a 12 ga. Go get em.;) |
RE: 12ga to big for squirrels
I agree, its not too big but really depends on the load you fire. just as long as its a clean kill

RE: 12ga to big for squirrels
A 12 gau is not to big ,it is the load you shoot .
A 7/8 oz target load of 7 1/2 shot is a great load. |
RE: 12ga to big for squirrels
A twelve gauge has probably took more squirrels than all the other gauges combined.

RE: 12ga to big for squirrels
No its not, I have killed several with a 12. I use a mod. choke and if I am using my o/u A full too. I shoot either 5 shot or 6.

RE: 12ga to big for squirrels
Growing up a 12 was all my dad ever hunted with. I couldnt count how many squirrel that thing has killed. Most of the time my 12 stays in the closet as I prefer a 410 or 22 when squirrel hunting but the 12 is by far the most commonly used shotgun for squirrel.

RE: 12ga to big for squirrels
As everyone has said, 12 gauge is fine for squirrel. I usually use my .22 but have killed many with my 12 gauge.

RE: 12ga to big for squirrels
Only if you use slugs. [8D]

RE: 12ga to big for squirrels
I really dont like using a shotgun at ALL on squirrels...Just dont feel it is a challenge at all...I use a .22 or .17 head shot only. Just my opinion though.:D
