I shot a fox squirrel that measured 34 inches from the tip of his nose to the tip of his tail. The tail alone was 18 inches. I didn't get it mounted because I was young and had money problems so I TRIED to skin it and couldn't even get the skin off it it was so old.

I have a buddy that shot a fox squirrel that measures 33 inches total and he has it mounted.

I shot a grey that was about 25" long. It was the worst tasting squirrel ever.

Most of the bigger fox squirrels I used to kill in my younger years averaged about 20" long and I have killed a few that were probably 24" +. They usually had a white or mostly white head, and the tips of their tails were white. Quite a pretty sight. But, the gray squirrels here are much smaller.

Sounds like you just killed off the last of the mutant rats

me and a friend were riding in the back of the truck at our place in iowa, just out looking for deer and we came up on these two big fox squirrels. We hopped out and grabbed our guns and got both of them. one was 24" and one was 25". both were very large in the body, both were males. one was chasing the other when we rolled by, maybe they were having a turf war? either way, they tasted darn good
