Default New to Squirrel Hunting

Hey yall, well I been up at my grandfathers ranch deer hunting and decided next weekend when I go up I am going to take my .22 and do some squirrel hunting. From what I figger I am just going to sit down in some cover down by this creek bottom that has a couple of pecan trees by it and see if I get lucky. Anything that you would reccomend me to bring/do? I hope I have fun, im sure I will even if I don't get nuttin still beats being in the city

You need to get a stool of some kind theres some different ones at
WalMart cheap so you won't get your bottom wet LoL.
And a water bottle is good you always get thursty I do any ways.
A squirrel vest of something to put them in.
And always remember the bullets LoL.

And most of all be Safe

Good Luck

Thanks, yea I had been thinking about one of those game vests to make it easier to carry birds/squirrels etc, where can I get that? Acadamy, Walmart? Any other tips for the inexperienced =)

You can get the vests at WalMart or any sporting goods store.

And just go and sit for about 15 minets to 30 minets at a time.
Sit next to a tree or bush to break up your outline.
And camo helps a lot.
Use hunter orange if requaired by your state.
You want to hunt legal and be safe.
If a squirrel gos around a tree on the other side just be still and throw a rock or something on the other side and the squirrel will think it is you and come around to your side for a shot.
You can also hang your coat on a tree limb and walk around the tree the squirrel will think your coat is you and give a shot.
Good Luck.

jrbsr has it right on the nose. But another method to that clothing around the tree thing is, throw a hat around the other side. I have had success with all methods mentioned!!! Good Luck!!! What gun are you using?

I know how you feel about being excited to go. I can't wait to get back into the woods this weekend as I'll be going squirrel hunting too. Just remember your camo, gun, ammunition, and patience and you'll do alright. Good hunting.
