Beleave me or not the friend I go squirrel hunting with uses a drilling chambered for 16x16x22Hornet. He loads his own 22 Hornets to lower the power. He got it on sale for $4500.00. I use a Browning A5 or a Spanish O/U. with 7 1/2 shot and either works fine.

When i used a shotgun. I used dove loads (can't remember bb size at moment) and once i didn't realize i load up an pheasant/duck shell when i shot one, was kinda messy. I been trying to bowhunt now and that's fun. I may have gotten one but never find it or the other half of my arrow (bottom half hit rock and was snapped in two)

#7 1/2 shot in a .410 works fine for me. i team up with my dad and he uses a .22

to cook 'em we just get them all skinned and gutted (duh) then put 'em in a crock pot w/some vegetables or something and let it cook. it does taste like chicken.

a shot gun is ok but you get all of the pellets when your are eating them i prefer to use a 22lr and shot them right in the head if you don't shot the squirrels in the head with a 22 and in the back they break apart when you clean them. i think it is funner to hunt them with 22 because you have only one bullet come out per shot instead of like 30 with a shot gun and by using a 22 with a scope it will get you intune for deer hunting because you can pick up faster and get the cross hairs and them faster

A head shot with 22lr is much better if you plan to fry them.
You fry them like southern fried chicken with a little spice or bake them in the
oven with potatoes some onions,Green peppers,salt, pepper,
and alittle cajun spice and add allttle olive oil. Serve with rice......Look Out...Bubba!
