One short of getting a limit---but had a wonderful morning. Great to be in the woods again. Shooting an old Remington 582 that I topped with a Simmons 4X 22 Mag. It was my grandfathers.

Great job! How many squirrels did you spot and how long did it take to bag those ?

I hunted from 6:00AM til around 10:00AM. I spotted 6 to 8 more in the small stand of trees I was hunting in---but as you know---hunting with a .22 means you don't always have time get a good shot. Had I taken my shotgun---I suspect I would have had my limit by 8:30 or so---but I much prefer the added challenge of the .22.

I shot my first squirrel with a .410, then every one since has been with a .22 with iron sights. You just have to keep it intersting, right? I'm thinking about getting a new .22 or .17hmr with a scope for squirrels. I've always limited myself to fairly close shots with the open sights. I think I'd like more shot range with a scope. (Not that farther shots can't be made with iron sights. I just don't trust my abilities thatmuch with iron sights.)
