Default Squirrel hunters: your average shot

When huntin' tree rats with a .22, what is the average range you normally shoot a squirrel at?

Over the years I have generally hunted squirrels useing a .22 LR w/scope. Even using a scope, my shots would still average around 35 - 40 Yds. In fact, I used to sight my scope in at 35 Yds.

I'm now shooting a lever action with a tang peep sight and this has forced me to "get a bit closer"...LOL.....with most shots being in the 25 - 30 Yd range.

Most of my shots are 25 to 40 yards.

Well even though those little buggers are hard to sneak up on with the bow (without success, yet) I usually try to make an shot between 20-40 yards.

With my .22, anywhere between 50-75 yards but i try to get alot closers. Sad to say my eye sight isn't as good as it used to be [:@]

up close and out to 30 yards. Thats average. I have taken them at twice that though it takes lots of practice to get a headshot that far. Sense ive had my 17 hmr i can get bulls eyes at 50 yards everytime. just need to get it in the woods.

id say 30yds. or less i shoot an old remington with iron sights so i cant be to far away and here the trees dont usually loose all there leaves so you have to be close to the trees to see the squirrels

we have ground squirrels around here that can be pretty skidish. If they know your coming the will run into thier hole. I have a Daisy .22 pellet rifle. The range isn't too great so I have to get pretty close. 15-20 yards. No one really kills the ones around here(So Cal) so they are not too afraid of people. i just have to be patient.

I hit this one right behind the front leg with 22 predator pellet (www.predatorpellets.com) from about 20 yards. When I get my Marlin 982vs in 22mag I will have way more range.
