i have just kinda of gotten into the trapping aspect of hunting, and i have cought coon, cats, and opposms, but i was woundering what the best bait would be to catch more of them, or even more types of varmits. i was also wounder what i could use to call in yotes, and even bait, but here in WI you can't use meat.... any thoughts

i would maybe try scents out instead of bait. I trap beavers and otters all spring and i use beaver castor gland scent for the beavers and fresh fish oil for the otters. These really seem to do the job. I would shop around for some scents maybe bobcat urine or something along that line.

Now is a great time to make yourself some fishoil. Catch a few bullheads, carp, whatever and chop up into chunks. Put into large mason jar, cover opening with 3-4 layers of cheesecloth(to keep the flies out) and set in sun where dogs and cats cant get into it for a couple months. When it has rendered down pour the oil off it into squeeze bottle or such and presto, you have lure that works great on coon, possum, mink, and canines.
