that is a walker .... and the dogs run yotes but they cant keep up with them usually the yote will be walking like 100 yrds-1500 yrds infront of the dogs just watching there backs and we shoot the coyotes with shotguns !

No i didnt shoot that one but a guy in the group i hunt with did and yes he is getting it mounted that was our sencond black one this year !

That's a keeper! I've seen them pretty dark in the face but never all black.

What state were you hunting in?

We shoot lots of coyotes up here in Idaho but I have never seen or heard of a black one.

CoyotePup, I am not trying to be disrepectful and sincerely hope that you do not take this post in the wrong context. However, having hunted yotes for more than a few years in WV, and TN, as has already been said have never seen a black one. I'm not saying that they do not exist as I have seen some darker ones. The only thing I am going by here is the shape of the ears and head what I can see ....and the pelt color. It looks like a young black wolf to me. Just wondering if you have anymore pics to share?? Cool if it is a yote, full body mount for that one and congrats to your friend that got it! Thanks....and thats a fine looking Walker too!

thats the third Black one in 2 years and yes they are coyotes ..... i live in western PA we run them all winter ... we have hunted coyotes for almost 30 years ... we know what a coyote looks like ............... we shot 77 coyotes as of today but they are calling for snow sat. sun. mon. so maybe we will break 80 .. thats the most we have ever gottin in one year and two of them were black ... well thier under bellys my have a little white or grey but the guard hair is all black in the face it is pure black ... i will post more pictures of many more coyotes Black ones,Red ones, Siver color ones ... and blond ones !
