Hi everyone, I have not been on in a long time, I’ve been so busy with my elk and deer hunt that I haven’t had much time to post. Unfortunately, I have not shot my elk or deer yet. Deer is almost over, but elk goes until December 31. I’m posting here today, because I want to try to start hunting coyotes. Apparently, there are a lot around where I live. Can someone give me some helpful tips for a beginner coyote hunter?
I’m also going to be searching for someone local to be my mentor.
I’m going to try shooting black powder for coyotes, but if that’s not advisable, please let me know.
Any help would be appreciated, Jared

Check out some of my threads on Page 2 of the Predator Tactics & Strategies sub-forum at the top of this forum, there are articles there with a lot of information on call sounds, guns to use, setting up stands for calling, etc.

Thanks for getting back. I will definitely look at it when I’m not busy. Jared

Black powder, sure you can use any gun pretty much for coyotes. Really depends on what you plan to do with the pelts. The only time the caliber matters is if you intend to keep the pelts, sewing pelts isn't much fun.
