Default Squirrel/Rabbit loads

I have some 12 gauge Remington Game Loads 2.75 inch, 1290fps,1oz, #7 1/2 shot. Would these be good for squirrels and rabbits out of a modified choke. Or would I need to go up a size to #6 shot. (Reason for asking because they have a picture of a dove and quail on the box and I have patterned them and they pattern good).

I prefer #6s. That being said range and pattern density are important. The squirrels I mostly have hunted are fox squirrels and they like to be way high up in oaks. #6s just penetrate allot better when they're up in the tree tops.

Thanks. I was thinking I need to go to size 6 shot. The squirrels I mostly hunt are grey squirrels and they too like to be high up. Most shots I take though are on the ground or on the lower half of the tree( oaks, walnuts, and pines)

I have used 7.5 shot in squirrel before when a dove hunt turned into a squirrel hunt and it did not penetrate well.
