Hey everyone,

I'm new to hunting in general, and am heading out coyote hunting for the first of (hopefully) many weekends hunting this year.

I realize I'm kind of putting the cart before the horse here, but I would like to eventually have enough pelts to make a larger sized rug. However, I don't have a lot of freezer space to keep untanned hides stored up until I have X number of them. So, if I get them, say, one at a time, how do I go about getting them tanned for future use as a rug?

I've read a lot about people taking hides to a taxidermist and they pay to have a really nice one turned into a wall hanger or a smaller rug. But is there such thing as a "rough" tanning that will just preserve them until I take them to the taxidermist and have them turned into the finished product?
