Welcome to HNI! How does using an air rifle for squirrel hunting compare to, say, using a 22?

Well it's harder for sure. When I used to hunt squirrels with a firearm (.22) I'd hold the barrel against a tree with my hand for a steadier rest. But if I do that with my spring piston air gun it actually decreases my accuracy, so I can't rest my air gun against a tree like a firearm. I have to use a "artillery hold". The artillery hold means holding your air rifle so lightly that it can recoil in any direction it wants to. I have to keep my shots under 25 yards. And it's more quiet than a firearm
