Default Snaring rabbits

Hey guys

Im just starting to try and snare rabbits. I had my home made snares out all weekend on some good trails, but none were touched. I dont know if my wire is to thick (0.7mm/0.027 of an inch), i need to decent them or my snares are just not the right set up. Ive got my noose about 6 inches above the ground and the other end of the snare into the ground which is attached onto a peg by a bit of string. Need some ideas and tips to catch some.

Thank you
Daniel

Is it legal in your state to snare rabbits? It isn't in mine and some others.

That's the first thing I thought of, as it's illegal in MI to snare just about anything.

In PA it is legal to snare certain fur bearers but game animals may not be taken with anything but a sporting arm or bow.

I'm not sure if it's illegal or not. I should probably have a look

That might be a good idea since there is probably a good chance that you've broken the law already! What state are you in?

You should because the season is probably closed, and there is a good chance snaring rabbits in not legal and I am betting you have no hunting license. That could get very expensive! What state are you from?

I'm from Victoria. But I've been on private property. Any way. Is the set up I have got any good and do I need to descent them?

Like the Victoria in British Columbia? I'm not giving anyone any instructions until I know for a fact that it is legal to do what they are asking and public or private land makes no difference. Did you do as Oldtimr asked as far as checking the legality of snares, season dates if any, licenses needed if any, etc.?
