Gutting a rabbit quickly
#13

Those are European rabbits. They are the precursors of our domestic breeds. Those fellows do have some great sport for coursing dogs. Often they hunt at night with a light and shine the light on the rabbit and the chase is on. Bags like that are not uncommon for some hunters. I have one of their dogs and have had some success with cotton tails. But I'd love to get him on some jackrabbits someday soon.

They sure look the size of hares, I checked and found they are an introduced species to GB. They look kind of like the San Juan (rabbit) which is actually a hare from the San Juan Islands that were attempted to be introduced to PA in the 50s. My dad actually raised quite a few for release for his sportsmans club. They never took hold and the farmers hated them because they dug warrens and it is now illegal to have them or release in PA.
