Depends on your style of rabbit hunting. When I was a kid we'd jump shoot them out of brush piles & I like .410s for that. Then I graduated to stalking & shooting w/ a .22 Long Rifle. The last 15+ years I've had beagles and I'll never shoot another rabbit that's not in front of my dogs. My favorite rabbit gun is a Remington 870 20 ga. youth model (shorter comb & 21" barrel). I carry Remington Express Long Range shells in both #4s & #6s depending on the cover we're hunting.

For rabbits I use my Henry lever in 22LR with 36grn. hollowpoints.

Older Savage/Anschutz .22 LR / Mueller 4.5-14x40, here in the midwest farm country most shots are well within 100 yards--
