Would like to join as a three man team all members are under 17 yrs old. The hunters are Joe(14), Russell(17) the man behind the camera, and Matt(16). Just ignore if teams are not allowed. We have tallied up 1 grey fox, 1 bobcat, and 4 coyotes. All killed in West Texas starting in early January this year. The pictures are not in order of the date they were killed. Would not let me put fox in this post will add to next post.
Weapons of choice were Remington model 710 in .270, weatherby Vanguard in .30-06, Stag Arms Lefthanded AR-15, and my S&W AR-15. Yes Matt, the kid in the back of the truck is wearing a turban. He got it from egypt he calls it his "pagan war wrap" and swears it is good luck. The first yote was killed strategically after he ran across one road and when he popped out on the one at a right angle from it he was blasted after he was stopped by the "Death Howl". Shot by Russell The second yote was killed at his shooting range right after it snowed in west texas which is unbelievable. Shot by Matt. The third yote was killed in the head lights of the truck on the way home from our latest call sight. He was also stopped by the "Death Howl" Killed by Joe the kid on the right. The cat was killed about 3/4 of a mile further down from the last coyote standing in the middle of the road the only cat we have ever seen on the property. Shot by Joe The last yote was killed at what we call the Old Organ House. He was nailed with the .270 by, when Joe he stopped due to the "Death Howl", in the leg. When he started to hobble off I shot him with the S&W. This shot went through the top of his nose through his jaw and into his chest behind the shoulder. When he reached back to bite at his wound. Shot by Joe technically but I was the one who delivered the fatal shot. |

Here is the fox I promised. Shot with a Rem. .270 just a little bit of over kill we were expecting hogs not a fox, but we take what we can get. You do not want to see the other side it was gone from the .270 bullet traveling down its side. Shot by Joe.
P.S. All critturs shot off of private property not public roads so they were all shot legally. |
sounds like fun. i love hunting coyotes. It's losts of fun

I'm in. I need to control the coon population in my hunting area. It'll take alot of coon to beat that 290 point mark but I'll give it my best.

Im all for starting up a new contest. If we can get enough people who want to participate we can create a new thread for the predator contest. Guess we could use the same rules the last one had?

I was wondering if there was any interest in a predator contest. It would be just for fun unless someone wants to donate some prizes. Rules would be simple and anyone could enter. Just wondering if there was any interest. If anyone wants to help out you could email me at [email protected] or you could just post here.
needless to say, i'll be competeing in that one. |
If You guys start up a new Predator Contest this year (2011-2012) count me in! I've been really getting into Predator/Varmint Hunting in the past 2 years and simply love it...can't get enough of it!I wish I would have paid more attention and joined in on the fun...I took out 4 Coyotes last summer, then 2 more in the Winter and had to pass on a Bobcat I called in that practically ran right up to me at about 10 yards away but it was out of Season and I couldn't shoot it.
Hey Nsdemit....what part of Missouri are You located in....I'm in Southeast MO. and we had a Predator Derby held in a small Town located down close to the Misssissippi River and we hunted in several different areas thru out our County, had a great turn out and will do it again this coming Winter again. One thing to consider if You are Predator/Varmint Hunting is to use a smaller Caliber Gun or lighter grain bullet so You don't harm the Fur/Hides if You want to keep them, have the Animal mounted or simply give them to a Trapper so they aren't wasted?I have been using my .243 Browning A-bolt Hunter Rifle and decided to get a smaller caliber Rifle that was easier on the Pelts...ended up with a CZ-USA "Varmint" .204 bolt-action Rifle using either the Hornady 40 grain bullets or the Sierra Blitz King 39 grain bullets?I may also get a Savage Axis in a .223 Bolt-action with the camo stock and the scope combo of the Bushnell 3X9X40mm scope. My Hunting Partner uses a Ruger .22 Hornet and its a nice sccurate shooting Rifle. |
