Next time here's what to do:

DON'T wax your traps with wax and water! The coverage won't be right and you can get bubbles and flaking wax because of it. What to do is get just wax and melt that in the pot. You can do this over a gas, electric or fire burner. Just make sure you don't get the wax where it is starting to smoke or not only may you start a fire, you will add a burn smell to the wax. Leave traps in the wax long enough so the trap is about the same temperature as the wax. A whole minute should be good. Then pull trap out of wax, let it drip back into the wax, then hang it up. Be sure your traps are clean before doing this or you can transfer smells of the trap to the wax and contaminate with unwanted odors. Be sure to clean traps of blood and animal scent, etc.
