Well I'm not going to give you a hard time :-). I agree, it doesn't seem like hunting as it was taught to me.

However, my old man gave me a hard time when I bought my first compound bow.

People will use as many gadgets and high priced equipment as they can afford, there is really no way around it. If I could afford a Range Rover, you bet I'd use it. Unless it is outlawed for some reason it is perfectly ok. Maybe not with you, but no one is forcing you to buy all that gear and hunt that way, so why worry about it? And yes if it is legal to hunt that way then he is hunting, real honest to goodness hunting. Not the way I would but thats ok. The best thing about living in this country is our freedom to do things our own way, and not having to appologize to anyone for it. I personally would not hunt that way at all, but it's ok if he does.

However they want to hunt is OK with me as well. Just because he has all the gadgets you do not have or want doesn't make it wrong if state laws allow it. I talked with a guide out scouting for moose this fall. He had a large electronic calling device. He showed me how it sounded. I took a little one out and showed him how mine sounded almost the same except his was more distorted. But, you should of seen the look on his face when i told him I had found the best place for them was under a tire.. I informed how I tried to stop a moose with mine while it was walking down the road. It never even looked back at me. Then I showed him my old style grunt tubes and told him how well they worked and he just looked dumb founded.. This guy was a guide that had hunters with him. I did tell him where alot of moose activevity was and I do not know if the happened to get one or not..

Count me among the crowd that says "if it works for you, more power to you". Life would be boring if we all thought and acted the same, now wouldn't it? This very subject is why I chose my current signature.

My biggest beef with this type of hunting is the laziness. The good news is these folks leave a lot of woods for those of us willing to get off of thier arses.

When I go out for rabbits or to do some trout/salmon fishing, I always try to walk at least a mile from the nearest vehicle access. That will usually leave out the majority of the "sportsmen". Five miles and I can count the other people I've seen on one hand. Great exercise, and it makes the catch taste that much better. A ten mile walk in the Oregon backwoods gets you hungry LOL...
