Another tip, when boiling and waxing traps I like to put a nail in between the jaws so the inside of the jaws gets treated also. If you have the off-set jaw traps this not an issue.

You can boil the traps for a while in just plain rain water and that will remove the factory grease and oil off your traps. Let them set outside for a while to take on a light coat of rust. Now you can dye and wax your traps. Just make sure your traps are completely dry before you dip them into the hot wax. In my opinion the trap dips are a waste of time and aren't as good as dying and waxing your traps.
