trapping in really colder weather.

Coons aren't going to move much at 15 degrees. They will stay in their holes until it warms up a little. I run hounds and we rarely ever start a track when the temp. is in the teens. Keep the bait fresh in your sets. They will be out like thieves the first warm night you get.

what kind of traps r u using if snares make sure u use grass or stiicks to guide any animal into it otherwise they will become weary and go around, if foot traps make sure that u cover them good but not to much that it will stop the jaws from closing completley and you dont want it to freeze up so what i usually do is dig about a 3 to 4 inch deep hole then place wax paper down then a thin layer of dirt then ur trap then another layer of wax paper on top of the trap then a layer of sifted dirt on top of that to hide it. And what i found out with using box traps is to cover them up with sticks leaves grass etc. then bait it this seems to work better for me, i also like the bucket sets for the conibears.
