Minaska Outdoor Inc

Just a heads up if any of you are thinking about buying a predator call from Minaska Outdoor. I placed an order with them on August 19th 2008 and as of October 16th they have not shipped my product. They charged the full amount to my credit card on August 19th 2008 ($600).They have never returned my phone calls nor have they answered or acknowleged any of my emails.

So, please do not purchase from them. I'm sure I'm not the only one that's had this problem with them. I've contacted the Nebraska Attorney General and their Consumer Fraud division is looking into it.

Get their product from a dealer or on Ebay and avoid dealing directly with them if at all possible.

Good luck

Casey,

I just talked to your dad again today. We have been in contact with him since you placed the order? Just like I emailed himyou will be receiving tracking information tomorrow on your M1/Sidewinder combo order. I am sorry for the delay and I can promise you that we have done everything we possibly could to get our circuit boards in as quickly as possible. They will start shipping out tomorrow. I thank you for your patients.

Sounds more like a case of "impatience" than fraud to me. Nothing new that a company charges your credit card at the time of order, and often times things that are out of a companys control prevent them from deliverying thier product as fast as the customer wants, and as fast as the company would like.

Always two sides to a story, BUT here it sounds like you need to talk to your dad more often, as apparently he has been contacted by Minaska at least a couple of times.

Just a guess, but did Minaska "promise" your unit by a certain date? And if so, when they couldn't meet that "promise", did they contact your dad and apparently you didn't get the message that there was hold up? Just a possibility!

Either way its not very professional of them to charge his credit card and not even ship the caller.....Im sure there is something else they couldve done.

First of all:
I was given a specific time frame in which I was told my product would ship to me. Specifically 8-10 days or "a couple of weeks".

It's prefectly reasonable that, after nearly 60 days after my order and payment, and zero communication that I would wonder if they were even still in buisness.

Which leads me to my next point: I placed the order, my credit card was charged.....I'm the one you talk to.

There was no communication on their end. I called, he called, I emailed regarding the status of the order.

No one answered the phone when I called and my emails were not answered.

This is not acceptable to me.

I understand delays happen, however, when you've been holding my money for 60 days with no notification to me, I don't know what a reasonable person would expect.

I'm pleased to see that you appear to be taking the necessary steps to resolve this matter. I'm looking forward to recieving my order.

I'm disappointed that it took something like this for you to communicate to me what was going on.

Obviously situations like this are not fun for anyone.

The last thing I want is a hassle, and having to spend extra time and energy tracking down my order.

I called and no one answered. No one returned my calls. No one responded to my emails regarding the status of my order.

My credit card is charged, I never recieve my order, an explanation, or even an update after nearly 2 months, regardless of my efforts to find out the status of my order.

I'm sure you can see where I"m coming from.

Not acceptable.

Once I recieve the order and everything appears to be satisfactory, I will consider this matter closed.

Thank you.

A company should not charge your credit card when they know they can not ship your order. As a matter of fact, they should have contacted the buyer before they ship a product 2 months later. Unless the buyer specifically said to ship back orders. And that does not sound like the case. My guess is they just did not want to loose an order. Thanks for the heads up. I was just getting ready to order one, but was torn between the Minaska and the FoxPro. Your post made up my mind. Tom.

SO, just curious, do you live under the same roof as your dad? Apparently, since that's the phone number and Email address that they had for your contact? IF that's not the case, why are they contacting him, and not you!!

It sounds like they had no reason not to beleive that they would be able to deliver your caller on time, so why not charge your card at the time of the order. SO then they had problems getting a circuit board from one of their contractors? Apparently? Just guessing here, that thier circuit board makers were probably promising the baords by a certain date, and they failed to deliver?
BUT again, I'm curious as to why they would contact your dad unless you live under the same roof and your dad failed to tell you that they had indeed been trying to be in contact with you about your order!!

I can see charging a CC for a "special" order.Something that is being made specific for a customer like a barrel or aftermarket stock. A caller on the other hand...

This thread still leaves some unanswered questions, like those of Howler's.

Why did the company come on here and reply to your post? How did they know to come here?

Look, you aren't listening and you don't know the situation.

They NEVER contacted me or my dad about anything.

I placed the order with them. It's my damn phone number, my credit card.

We BOTH tried for weeks to get a hold of them to see what the status of the order was.

I never recieved any answer or acknowledgment of my emails or calls.

The reason he emailed my father was because he was also calling and emailing to try to get a response.

Please keep in mind this was yesterday.

Prior to that time they had not said or done anything besides take my money the day of the order.

What part of that do you not understand?

Who appointed you mediator? You don't know what the situation is, that is obvious.

Just got the email thanks. When I get the package everything will be resolved.

My next quesiton is, if this is the way things go, what is the warranty service going to be like?

This isn't an isolated incident. I"ve talked to vendors and they were getting complaints also.

I am not denying that I wish this was handled differently! I do not answer the phone on a regular basis and just happened to be the one yesterday that did. If you can please shoot me an email at [email protected] and I will send you tracking information again right now.

This is to everyone waiting for a reason...

Why Minaska Outdoors has not been able to fill orders as planned.

To start off with we relocated our entire operation almost next door to our engineers 60,000+ Sq ft building to better serve our customers. Just before making this move we placed a large order for circuit boards and paid thousands of dollars in advance for the boards with the understanding that they would be delivered shortly after getting into our new facility.

We made the move into our new facility and continued to check the status of our circuit board order that was supposed to be received around the 4th of July. We then started finding it hard to get into contact with our engineering firm always leaving a message or talking to their assistant… "Ohthey are at a product show in Chicago" etc. Finally we had to confront these individuals to see what the delay was.

We then found out the boards were never ordered and our engineers had larger customers than us to worry about so they were not going to be able to deliver. We also learned that all of our parts and the thousands of dollars they had were now suddenly something we were going to have to get our attorneys involved with and are currently fighting just to get back what was ours. Some of the parts are very hard to find and in turn caused us more of a delay.

We scrambled to find a new engineering firm that we felt comfortable working with and we did find one that is so far superior to the ones that we did have that it will be a blessing once this whole mess is all cleaned up and we can begin to move forward with them. Our new engineering team has extensive audio and RF expertise (very exciting things will be coming)!

We are very pleased with our new team! They are running our circuit boards and orders have begun to ship out. We apologize for the delays and assure you that we are doing everything humanly possible to make this up to our customers.

We will have our new remote membranes very soon (2 weeks or less) and begin to ship them out with each new order (included with all back orders at no additional charge) as well as offer them as an upgrade to existing customers. AND YES CASEY WE WILL SHIP YOU OUT A NEW MEMBRANE FOR YOUR ANGUISH!

We will also be including “something extra” (to make up for this extreme test of your patients) with your orders. I understand that this does not make up for the amount of time you have been waiting for your order but I am confident your purchase will have been worth the wait.

As for your questions about our warranty service… aside from the struggles we have been having as a result of this situation we are regarded as having a very high quality of customer service and we will continue to offer the best customer service possible! We stand behind our products 100%. We always have and we always will take care of our customers!

Minaska is one of only 2 game call manufacturers that are engineered, tested, assembled and 100% MADE IN THE USA.

I was thinking about a new fox pro fury with some of my trapping funds. But I have heard alot of bad things about their distance is not up to par as for wireless.Does your callers have good ranges and do they spport multiple sounds be played together at different volumes and faders? And can it run a jack in the box from the caller indipendant?

huntnfishak 10-17-2008 08:56 PM

RE: This is to everyone waiting for a reason...

sammy_tat as far as distance go's, I play my FX3 100 to 200yd aways with no problem even in the cold and I live in Alaska -20 to -60 in the winter. I have owned 3 electronic wireless callers foxpro sounds the best out of all of them and othercallers I have heard. On the FX3 no you can't play multiple sounds. On the new 1, I don't know about that 1 but yes you can run a jack in the box from the caller indipendant. hands down Foxpro is the best electronic wireless caller. I can't see paying $600 and more for the FX5over the FX3 what the FX5 has over the FX3 it's not worth the extra money.. [:-]
Hope this helps

RE: This is to everyone waiting for a reason...

sammy tat,

I think you were asking me the question?

We test all of our callers on the ground at 400yards. We use them personally in normal midwest hunting situationsin our area at much shorter distances (50-75yrds)but out west we will put it out there closer to 200 yrds+ on the ground with no problems.

The long and the short of it is the Fury is using a different technology and I think they are just working the bugs out. We use the same wireless technology as their FX series callers. For optimal range if possible you can elevate the caller off of the ground or hang it in a tree... just getting itup off the ground at all will help with range and reliability.

Through software you can mix your own sounds to have a sound coming out off one speaker and a different sound coming out of the other speaker... but to change speakersfrom the remote is not an option at this time.

Yes you can run the Jack-in-the-box from your callers with the remote.

I am in the decision making prcess right now between the Minaska and the FoxPro. Everything I have read about the Minaska is good. I was truly considering one. But customer service is very important. It sounds like the fellow from Minaska is trying to set the record straight. However I also believe BA. He may be a bit rough in some of his posts, but they are normally true and on the mark with his comments and experience, just a little rough on the delivery. Well we will see how things work out. Tom.

Good to hear Steve. Your product is one of, if not the top electronic caller available right now, which is why we wanted it.

RE: This is to everyone waiting for a reason...

Well, there wasahiccup with the first attempt atshipping. The tracking number that I got showed the package hadn't even been picked up by UPS after a week.Steve saidthis was a problem with UPS.

Steve was good enough to send it 2nd day air and I recieved it yesterday. I looked it over last night and so far I'm very impressed with the quality.

I didn't see any "something extra" inthe boxbut he must be talking about the new membranes for the remote which he said he will send one out when he gets them, and that'sfine.

I've got it charging and this weekend I'll be using it to call wolves and cats.

What I find interesting is that when I emailed Steve to ask about why it appeared the shipment never left, he got back to me, literally in minutes.

Which is really what thiswas all about.

Any kind of communication would have prevented this whole situation. And by 'communication' I don't mean 2 months after the fact.

I totally understand that if he had problems with his subcontractor it would have been extremely difficult for him to get my order out.

To me, that's irrelevant.

Regardless of the reason for the delay, he did not contact either of us until almost two months later, after Iwas forced to make a big stink about it.

All he would have had to do is a) return my calls or b) reply to one of my emails.

And for the record, I never sent an email to him from the one he posted. I sent them from my gmail account and all they had to do was reply to it.

Had someone let us know at any point in time, that there was a delay, I would have totally understood.

It was the principle of the matter that they had my money, and all I had was 2 months of complete silence. We didn't even know there WAS a delay.

So I just wanted to get that straight with everyone.

In the end, he provided the product that I paid for, after some prodding.

Assuming he has this supply issue ironed out, which I think he does, I don't think anyone will be disappointed with the service.

You certainly won't be disppointed with the quality of the product, and I'll post more about it when I get back from this trip.

BrutalAttack 03-19-2009 02:55 PM

RE: This is to everyone waiting for a reason...

Just wanted to post a follow up on this. As you can see from above I finally got the product that I paid for. However, once I got a chance to look over everything it was apparent that several things seemed to be missing.

1. The "manual" (which is 4 pages printed from a PC and stapled together) made reference to a memory card reader used to add/delete/modify the calls stored on the card using PC. Other calls of the same model on Ebay have the card reader with them. There was no memory card reader included. I'm not sure if there is supposed to also be some type of software included also as the manual wasn't clear at all.

2. The manual also said to be sure to fill out the warranty and registration. There was no warranty paperwork or information in the package.

3. There was no cord for the included decoy. I had to go buy one at RadioShack.

4. The "something extra" that Steve said would be sent to those that had been waiting for 90 days never materialized either.

I've tried repeatedly to get ahold of someone there to see why I never got everything that was included, but again there was no response.

I will be submitting a review of Minaska to the BBB.

Other than those things the call is as promised.
