Here's the locked up bucks I found a few weeks back that I forgot to post pics up of. Coyotes had their way with them, hopefully they were dead at the time.....

No problem on helping count 'em Howler...I had to remove one of my boots, and it was -8 when I did that, almost lost a toe counting 'em myself! ;)

Thanks fellas. It was time for me to get a break and have some dogs finally cooperate. I'm going to be on the road trucking alot this week now, so I don't think I'll be on here much till the weekend, then hopefully I'll be out killing dogs again! :D

shot this fox yesterday 15 yards with the .204 came in to the cottontail distress #1. i saw it at about 100 yards and was about to pull the trigger then it dissapeared in the weeds. half a min. later it popped out right in front of me and was almost on top of my caller. i rushed the shot and hit it far back. monster hole on one side. saw one yote waited for my buddy to shoot (he has never shot one yet)never did by the time i got on it he made it to some brush. might go back out later resting up had to push snow till 3am:eek:

bhw, sorry to here about your accident. I almost have to laugh about the "coyote bait" comment. Out here in CO., there is a waiting list of people wanting road killed deer and elk. Once your name makes it to the top of the list, and someone hits an elk/deer, you get the call and can go pick it up, BUT people aren't picking them up for "bait", they're picking them up to eat. Free meat!! One of my co-workers has gotten a couple of road kills.

Good job ilyote, by the way, I wish you guys would quit hogging all the snow.

No kidding, on the snow. Look. He has a bucket full and no where to put it.

We had a little snow here yesterday. By today you couldn't tell that it even snowed.

I love the fact that we got fresh snow, (12")not happy to shovel it out of the driveway but it frustrates me that I cant get out this weekend to get after some yotes. [:@]

Kinda slow here, whats the deal????? No one out killing any dogs? What was the deadline of this deal? I'm heading out calling this week with an old member that was in the contest last year (stevetatum) for a few days. Hopefully we will have a few cats an dogs to show for our efforts!

The weather has been less than stellar here lately with blizzard conditions and record icestorms. My annual Indiana Predator Challenge contest begins on Friday. I'm basically out of the game until next Tuesday. I have spent several hourstracking coyotes inthe snowin recent days, and there are still 60 or 65 properties that I've yet to hunt in my area. Hopefully it'll pay off, now we're defending a LEAD! :)

I slipped out about an hour before dark tonite and hit up one of my honey holes. I got about a 1/2 mile from my pickup walking in and realized that I had forgotten my shooting sticks [:@]I was breaking through the crust on the top of the snow and was over my knees every step so I didn't feel like going back so I kept going. I got to my calling spot an got set up, I sat for about 15 minutes to let everything settle down, since I sounded like a herd of elephants walking in. The spot I am calling has great visibility for about 2 miles over looking a bunch of pasture with good creek bottoms/willows in it. Normally, I can spot a coyote before I start calling in this spot, but came up with nothing so I stated in quiet on the Tweety. After my first series of about 20 seconds nothing was moving (or so I thought), so I went into a real aggressive series on it and about that time I caught movement directly to my right. I had a pair of coyotes 100 yards away from me. They apparently didn't care much for how loud I was and as the lead dog turned to go away I spun around and got on it, I barked to try to stop it and it started to trot away, so I texas heart shot it with a 55gr Nosler BT handload that I just worked up. I spun around and tried to get on the second dog but never could get a shot. When I looked up I saw the other dog cresting a hill about 200 yards away. After about a 350 yard blood trail I finally found it bled out. The good news was it ran closer to my pickup, the bad news was they aren't worth anything anymore. I took 27 coyotes to 2 different fur buyers last nite and only end up getting 12 of them sold for $5 a piece.

Well that's too bad they're not worth anything this year. Bad news I'll be doing alot more dog hunting in the next few weeks, I'm the latest victom of the economy. I got the hook today.

I went out around 10:30 last night, drug in sometime just before the sun came up and went to bed. Well Purepredator woke me up a few minutes ago.. with a text message about the IPC. I replied once from bed, then got up and stumbled to the kitchen. In my next reply I rubbed in the fact that I'd killed 3 coyotes last night and was gonna go take a picture so I could post them... then, I went downstairs and discovered THIS!




That's right, only 2 of my 3 made it home! LOL! I had no tailgate on... and the little bloody spot in the bottom of the picture is where I threw my final coyote of the night. I was hellin' thru a cornfield and old railroad track after my last stand- offroad for about 2 mile. I'll head back down there in a bit. With a NEGATIVE SIX DEGREE temperature, he ain't hurtin any.

PS: Most of you see a truckbed... but all Howler can see is my taillights. :)

While judging the IPC contest, patroling for teams and keep an eye on things, I had time to sneak away for one quick stands. It was quite a hike to get into position on these already vocal coyotes, but it only took about 2 minutes to get one to close the distance from 400 yards to 15 yards. It was exciting and made good video.

Good goin, I called one up Friday morning, came to a challenge howl. Got him up to about 125yds. and gave me a perfect shot. Drilled him in the chest, big tuft of fur, let out a bloodcurddleing scream, and off he went. I kept on calling, but nothing. Watched him go for 800yds or so, did'nt think he would have made it that far, but he did. Got up, and went after him, good blood trail in the snow. Had to be two miles almost. Could'nt go any more, he made it into a subdivision, no way he's still alive, but would have been nice to get a pic. The shot must have been to one side or another, man they are a tough damn animal.

Keep after them yodeldog! I can hardly keep my eyes open... been running so ragged with the contest this weekend. I've made two stands in 4 days, thats the laziest pace I've pushed since December.

I'll recouperate tomorrow and get out there after them by midweek. Looks like 65/70 degree temps with thunderstormshere onTuesday and Wednesday. Might have to travel a few hundred mile north for some decent calling conditions.

I took my dads business partner calling today for the first time in his life (50 years old). First stand on his property called in apair to about 60 yards, I got on the back one about 80 yards, and told him to take a shot. He shot and I dumped the back coyote. Then proceeded to shoot 15 more times at the coyote that he missed, never touched a hair on it. The sad thing is I forgot my cellphone in my pickup, and my camera. SO no picture proof of the kill. :(

We made 4 more stands after that without a sighting.

I can see that I need to accidently loose the video camera, or find someone else to carry and run the darn thing. Jrb is getting out of hand![&:]
I did finally get to carry a rifle on Sat. but in tough callin' country didn't do much in cutting into the lead. BUT one more is one more at this point. Called in a pair that came just perfect, but could only get the one on the ground. She had mange on her legs, but the rest of her looked fine.

Pretty good weekend for me, other than two flats on the Jeep. Had to borrow my father-in-laws pickup on Saturday when my spare that was on the Jeep went flat.

Well... no padding the lead tonight. Set my alarm for midnight and discovered that the weatherman missed the windage by a good 10mph. It's gusting to 25 out there right now, probably no hunting until Thursday since this weather system has moved in. Record high temps (mid 70's), high winds and thunderstorms are predicted thru Thursday.

Had time to calculate predators taken since 10/15/08. I sit at 79 right now, my calls and my kills. Not sure 21 moreis possible before my season ends on 3/15/09 but it'd sure be nice to break 100! I have pinpointed a couple easy coyotes. Might be a while before I can get to them though.
