Here's a great thread with pictures of the various stages of mange:

Oh man I could smell that one down here in Illinois. That had to be in some warm weather, march is when we see most of them around here. They dont ussualy last to long, still pretty cold. I dont know why we see more this time of year, maybe couse of all the close contact of the breading season. The tail seems to be the first thing to go, then the shoulders. I"ve never seen one that bad before. Makes me want to go brush my teeth LOL.

Yeah, that one was in early June I believe. It was first cutting of Alfalfa, kept seeing it while I was cutting the alfalfa, and I called up my mom and had her bring my rifle out to the field. I was scared to touch it for any pictures! lol

Yeah ya know all the anti- hunters think what we do is so bad. Hey bunny-huggers, how do you like the way mother nature takes care of things. I"ve only found 1 dead coyote with mange. That is "one I have not shot and then found". There is only one way to say it ,,, that has to suck real bad to die that way.

I don"t know, but I do know that it can be passed on to domestic dogs, cats, and probebly other animals ,other than coyotes. The mange is a parisitic bug, or worm. I think it"s best to have little to no contact with it, if at all possible.

Hey Yodel ! I'll bet those yotes are pretty thick back home after the cold weather you guys have been getting. My dads been complaining about the Illinois weather this year worst than most. You should be getting top dollar for any hides this year I would think. Take care.
