im yet to use a rifle. i do all my preditor unting with a shotgun, slug and buckshot. and the ocasional bow and arrow.

I also use a shotgun. I was using 00 buckshot but now I use remington hevi-shot #5' s in a turkey choke.

I was using slugs when I was deer hunting and missed a huge coyote (runnin off the deer I had right under my stand, first time a coyote ever saved a deer' s life)
it was about a 45 yard shot. So I started using buckshot.

I' ll probably start using 00 again once I buy another box. Hevi-shot is too expencive to be blasting away at coyotes.

Right now it is a Ruger #1 heavy barell in a 25-06. Have a model 70 stealth on order in a 22-250. I really like the 06 but i shoot a lot of prarie dogs in the summer and you tend to start flinching a little after about 75 rounds. Looking forward to the 22-250.
