RE: Got my first coyote

Well, we don"t have cats here in Illinois, but I did shoot one in Nebraska a few years back. I think the best way is get into heavy cover, get a good object to keep their attention on, like a feather on a string. Maybe a jack in the box, and go with bird sounds. I used the flicka with the prey master. Just watch for a set of ears or a tail movement. Get into the cover and go with the shotgun.

yes these cats wont usually come into the open like a coyote, they also like the bird sounds or more high pitched sounds and cat sounds you can get bobcat sounds for your PM and as YD3 said they probably wont charge in,but they may, they usually just are setting by an object that you have saw a bunch of times, but this time there is a cat by it.If you have ever seen them in the woods they can sit or stand dead still but that short tail is always working and moving. They depend on sight and sound almost always, they don't circle down wind,if they approach from down wind then thats just where they were when they heard the sound.Good Luck, around here a big tom is about like killing a B&C buck,a highly admired trophy,I've only killed 2 of them and they were small 15lbs each.I called in a nice tom with a mouth call during nov.deer season, but I missed(bear recurve and wooden arrows)but that cat jumped straight up in the air when that arrow hit just above him by an inch or two,I think I scared one of his lives out of him.Post pictures if you score and good luck!!!

last year we had a bunch of squirrels coming in on our corn, one time I counted 22. I guess a bobcat starting noticing this and he would sit over on the side in the woods then coming running in and try to grab a squirrel. I never saw him catch one but it was fun to watch. thanks for the help and again any info you can give would be greatly appreciated

sounds like that would be a good place to sneak in and do some calling.I dont know if squirrel sounds are available for your PM but other sound would do and you can tie a turkey feather on a string to a weed stalk or tree branch to use as a decoy cats love to see movement with the sound.I carry one in my foxpro case so I can use it to distract the animal if I'm not useing a decoy.just get a turkey feather, tie a peice of thread or fishing line to it a foot or two long and put a wire hook or an alligator clip on it to attach it to a limb or fence and any air movement will cause it to move and also give wind direction.good luck.
