My sister farms 12000 acres of dryland wheat right in the middle of prime prairie dog country. We shoot them all the time. Watchin someone else shoot them is like watchin a porno movie. Lotsa a action but not much fun for the viewer.
Shot a few last weekend and planning on going again in a couple of weeks.
On a good day in May and June we can shoot more than 300/shooter and most any other time at least 100. We use .221, .223, .204, 22-250, 22-250 AI, 6mm and even some big stuff occasionally (shot three in a row in Dec with a 20 ga. shotgun). I get guys coming out to shoot from as far away as IL, LA, MO and WA every year in the late spring and early summer.

In farm country you shoot them anytime the sun is shining. I shoot them year round.
uk hunter - at the going UK rate I can shoot about $150,000 worth of dogs on a good day. I can assure you that your fellow countrymen wouldn't be nearly as anxious to secure a pd for a pet if they had seen what I see.

Anybody want to hook a fellow rookie dog hunting out with a spot. I live far enough away that this would be a one weekend a year hunt. From Wisconsin and will have a supply of whatever bottled or canned beer you like for the help. Look forward to getting out there, bought a new a-bolt 22-250 and sited it in last weekend for 300 yards...Sweet gun!! i love it and look forward to seeing varmits flying in the air.
thanks,
Erik

I think my room mate and I are going looking for them tomorrow. We saw a bunch at lower elevations today, but they were on prison property and we can't shoot them there. Gonna check out some of the spots up here and see what we can find.
