Yea I was looking at the CZ... I just can't seem to find it in the 22 mag with the heavy barrel...

What kind of scope mounts do you use on your CZ???

RE: 22LR or 22MAG

i reccomend .22LR since it's much cheaper and easier to find ammunition, along with more choices.

yes the 17hmr is now the king of the rimfires,it is definantly the most accurate and the velocity king, but I still love my 5mm rimfire magnum it has a little more down range energy than all of the rimfires,I'm about to run out of ammo for it then I've got to convert it to a centerfire. But I can still shoot my 17hmr or 22lr and find ammo for them.
I don't know that it is available yet, but Centurion is making factory 5mm rimfire. I believe it should be available for $20-25 a box of 50. Higher than any other rimfire, but cheaper than going centerfire.

.22 mag is about 3x or more the price of .22lr

RE: 22LR or 22MAG

mossbergman11 you can get a 500 round brick of 22lr. ammo for about $10.A 50 round box of 22mag ammo will cost you about $10 or a little more for some,so you can shot 10 times as many 22lr for about the same $10.I always shoot a 22lr for small caliber target or plinking, the 22mag is more powerful but it dont take power to kill cans or paper so the 22lr will be a lot better for this and the piggy bank.I hope this helps.PS the 22lr is also an excellent small game round with plenty of power for little critters from ground squirrels to maybe a fox or coon.

RE;Mr Longbeard

I dont know the maker of my scope mounts,I let the gunshop install it for free, since I bought the gun and scope there and they have a 3 foot long barrel alignment tool that insures that your scope is in perfect alignment with your barrel. The receiver is grooved for standard 22 mounts, the ones I got cost about $20 they tighten up to the receiver on both sides so you can get better alignment than with weaver style or other mounts that have only screws on one side, other than that they are standard mounts. This gun is very accurate and not cheaply made, but it doesn't cost much more than a lot of other 22's.I also checked my owners manual and they don't offer the 22wmr in the varmint model, but the barrel on the 452 american isn't skinny it's about average.Hope this helps.

22lr is plenty for bushy tails an plinking cheaply you can get 500rds for about $9. I have a 10/22 with heavy green mountain barrel, trigger job, recoil buffer, hogue stock with a simmions AO 10/22 scope. Its a tack driver out to 100yds.

can you use a .22 lr on coyotes?
I wouldn't recommend it. I plugged a couple one day, roughly 20 yards broadside, they yelped and ran off, but no blood, never found em.
