22LR or 22MAG

With one would you say is the most accurate at 50 yards... I'm thinking about the 22lr for squirrls and was wondering if the 22LR would be more accurate than the 22WRM ???

Accuracy will have a lot more to do with the gun than the cartridge. A quality rifle in either would do the job. For squirrels, I'd probably stick with a .22lr.

well if money is going to be an issue....the LR ammo is about a tenth of the price of the WMR

With close shots, I would go with the .22LR, long shots .22WMR. I beleive that if you want ultimate accuracy out of your rimfire, get a .17HMR, I beleive it is the king of rimfires!:D

yes the 17hmr is now the king of the rimfires,it is definantly the most accurate and the velocity king, but I still love my 5mm rimfire magnum it has a little more down range energy than all of the rimfires,I'm about to run out of ammo for it then I've got to convert it to a centerfire. But I can still shoot my 17hmr or 22lr and find ammo for them.

id say the choice is yours...like NT said, the rifle will matter more than anything. ive never had a problem knockin down bushy tails with me 22lr. accuracy is key....the nice thing is that even good rimfires are usually cheaper than a CF. i personally like my marlin m25...i dont know what they go for, but they arent real expensive...mine shoots really well

Well first of all a 17hmr is no more accurate then any other round!!! Speed has nothing to do with accuracy,It is a ok round for squirrel, rabbits or crows but that is it as far as I am concern. If you are just shooting 50 yards then a 22lr will do all you want for small game. The 22wmr will go on out to 100 yards on small game,or 75 yards and less on coyotes. Good luck

hey Mr longbeard not trying to change your mind about that browning, but have you ever looked at a CZ452 American they are nice I bought one 2years ago for $300 brand new and it is the only 22rifle that I have ever owned that would outshoot my old rem.541T that I sold several years back,I have a nikon 4.5 x 14 buckmaster scope on it at 50yards 5shots are just a ragged hole in the target with decent ammo, mine loves cci minimags.I dont know the price of the T-bolt but the CZ is a nice gun,you can easily adjust the trigger also mine is set and working fine at 9.5oz with no accidental firings after 100's of rounds through it,this gun is a squirrel sniper,It might save you money enough to buy a $300 scope to go on it for the price of that browning, PS I am by no means putting down a browning rifle I have owned a couple of them also and they are very fine guns, what ever you decide you cant go wrong.
