well i am tanning the hides right now.....they are soaking as we speak.

Its a Gray fox.

I shot it through one ear and out the other
i think it's cool that you do your own tanning. what do you use to do it? i've heard good and bad things about krowtan. haven't tried it yet.

HEY BHB I use KROWTANN2000 for all my fur,and lifesize mounts you can get it at van dyke supply co. the have a website one quart cost about$24 but it only takes 4-6 ounces to tan a coyote or bobcat or fox, it is simple to mix and use and you dont have to salt or do ph level checks. You just mix salt and water and krowtann in a bucket add fur and leave it for 3 days (turning it everyday),take it out and rinse it offand wash it in a baking soda mixture to nuetralize the ph and your done,it comes with complete instructions and recipes for mixtures for all size game it works good for me with little hair slippage, most hair slippage is due to improper drying, best to tumble dry if you have a tumbler or you can use a clothes dryer just turn down the heat and throw in a few old towells.Hope this helps.By the way have you tried howling yet, for those coyotes?
