I am not currently using a .270 on yotes, but i have in the past. I just bought a Remington .223 so that will be my new yote gun. A .270 is an all around good gun, but may be a little much for the typical coyote. If you do not care about the damage to the dog, i would go ahead and shoot. If you are looking to save any coyotes for fur, i would go with a smaller gun (.204, .223 or 22-250).

if coyotes all the gun will be used for then go smaller, .22 centerfire or .204 ruger. if your going to hunt deer with the gun also then the .270 will be fine.

I hunt fur so the .270 is way 2 much gun for yotes, fox, and bobcats. I use something like a .204, .223 AI, .221, .220, .17 rem. I would never use a .270 on yotes.

I forgot to mention the other day, you can use a 22-250 for yotes, fox, etc. but make sure to use ballistic tips and V-MAXes.

If you are going for a all around deer/coyote/do all gun, a 270 will work great, but if you are just looking for a varmint rifle, I would go for a smaller caliber (22-250, 223, 243).

I have shot 2 coyotes with my .270. One of them were completely torn up, and the one I shot just the other day was almost perfect. No tears in the hide or anything. I would go with a smaller caliber if you are going for the fur, but if you are just doing a control shoot, the .270 will work great.

Why does a 250 have to have a BT to kill a yote??? Never heard that before....

I used to use a 270 for about 5 yrs till i got my 243. A little hard on them sometimes but i dont save fur so i could care less. used 130 gr sof points
