My son's 1st Squirrel - neat picture
My son and I have hunted together in the past, but this year was the 1st where he carried a gun, and had his own license. It was really abig deal to him, and he was really proud that he took the course and passed it easily.
So I was with him when he shot his 1st squirrel -he was extremely happy to have done it on his own, and very proud. I always carry my camera with me and I got several pictures of him holding up the squirrel with a HUGE Smile on his face, I'm so glad to have those pictures, and someday he will be too.
But the picture that I liked the most -was one that he didn't know I was taking when we sat back down. I think it captures how important the moment was for him - and it gives me chills a bit.
Whats more - thats really neat, and a littlesupernatural- is the night before opening day of Shotgun Season, I abandoned my plan to hunt a favorite stand of mine, and decided to carry in a chair and sit in the woods - on a field edge that I suspected might be a good escape route for opening day hunting pressure, I've NEVER hunted opening day from the ground or in this spot, O'm not sure what made me decide to...........At 1st light I Harvested my best buck in 25 years hunting - The odd thing is that if you look at the picture of my son above, I was sitting on the Stone wall, right where the sun is shining infront of my son's face.
Maybe its a coincidence? I don't know - but it feels like it was meant to be.
Hope you liked the story,
FH
