If you don't have to have multiple shot capability, the check out the NEF/H&R. These single shots are real tack drivers and can be had just about anywhere for around $250.00 brand new. Awesome guns! Plus you can get optional accessory barrels (just like the the T/C Encore) for less than $100.00. I love these guns.

theres an extremely large selection of rifle makes to choose from.it all boils down to your bank roll.you can go from one like the nef up to several thousand or more for a weatherby,of caurse the weatherby would be a .224.tell us your budget and some one here can narrow it down for ya.

Id go with the H&R, leaves you some money for ammo. <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>
Actually by the time you get a scope the money will be gone.

well your selections are narrowed down to makes like nef-savage-remington etc.nef rifles will be under 300 but there single shots.i do believe savage has one around 300 thats not a bad rifle.remington has the 700 adl for a little over 300.most of these bottom line rifles require trigger work and sometimes glass bedding to be tack drivers.but i think not matter what you buy your budget will be short for a quality scope,a rifle is only as good as the scope thats mounted on it.personaly i would go with a savage or remington bolt action rifle.if one of these with a decent scope on it is over your budget then save money a little longer.trust me when i tell you if you skimp and go cheap you will regret it down the road.a remington adl or savage(don't remember model number)with a quality scope, rings and bases, bypod and sling, figure on spending any where between 600 and 700 $ minamum.
