Get you a .223. They are cheap and a wide variety of off the shelf loads. A Steven 200 can be had for around $300.

For me and what I use my varmint gun for, Coyotes, Fox and a few pesky varmints the best caliber is a .204 Ruger around a Savage Model 11 in a synthetic stack topped with a Leupold VX-II 3x9-40mm!:) Plus it's a fun Gun to shoot!

you could also look into a stevens 200 they are basically a savage very accurate kind of rough looking but if you are hunting with it it will look worse anyway in my opinion

im gonna head to walmart in chillicothe soon, cause i need to get some hand warmers for our fishing trip up on lake erie next weekend, and while im there maybe take a looksy poo at the rifles they have.:Dhopefully i can make it there before next week. till then i will be researching my but off asking questions, getting answers, and search for the perfect rifle for my needs. i have seen many good lokkin rifles but i havent really seen one that says im the one. you know. ill let you know when i see that "one".
