Default Opening Day Bag Limit

Today's the first day of Squirrel Season in VA. Thought I'd share a few pics. VA's limit is 6 per day. Ishot 6 with 6 head shots by 9:30.Pretty good day. Oddly enough, none of them were cuttin' hickory nuts. Most were in white oaks and two were in dogwoods. (A late frost killed a lot of our hickory nuts this year)

Congrats, nice shots btw!

I really like that first pic. Most of the time you get a blurry one of them laying in a front yard. Kudos to you for making an outstanding photo.

Thanks! My Dad always told me "Don't ever bring me a squirrel back that wasn't head shot." Back then it was just annoying. Now I realize that he was teaching me patience, shot placement and sharpening my eye. Turns out parents aren't as dumb as we think.

Thanks also for the Kudos. I'm a portrait photographer hoping to transition to wildlife at some point in my life. But for now I'm just stuck doing boring people.

Its a Marlin 39AS Gold. I have two of them, although my other one was my dad's and is many years older than mine so its just the "39A"

Sure glad to help.

Nice pics, but squirrel hunting already in VA? Didn't they have ticks, fleas, or warbles? I've never shot one here before a good cold frost that didn't have something

Not normally, I killed those six on Saturday and none of them had anything. This morning I killed 6 more and only one of them had a warble. Didn't affect the meat though.
