I would have said house cat at first glance as well but after you all mentioned the markings it definately must be a young bobcat.

well, my first guess was a domestic house cat, but looking at the back of the ears, there are white pathces--bobcat markings. also, the lack of cheek tufts and ear tufts suggest its a young bobcat.

i'd bet money it's a housecat. coloring and the short hair don't look like a bobcat. there's my $.02
