Wood Chucks...

How do you kill these? Do you trap them or hunt them? We have some digging under my uncles buildings, and I think he wants them out of there. Should I take the .22 out and try to hunt them, or go and get some traps?

If its cold there like it is here in michigan ill bet my boots its not a chuck. But if it is a chuck and you use a 22lr better make it a good shot.A woodchucks stout body most of the time isnt impressed by a .22lr stinger, yellow jacket,or any other hollow point.22's will kill them but sometimes they make it back to thier holes and then smell the place up.

a good 220 conibear or the above mentioned 22 will do the trick! The 220 in the runways under the buildings will hammerem everytime! Good luck...

What is a #2 set? I've only trapped gophers in my life, and that was only during 1 summer. I might have to get back into that now...

Are the traps expensive?

a #2 is a size of trap. Get either a coil or a longspring. I prefer the coils. A #1.75 would also do you well.

I've hunted woodhucks many times out in fields from the back of a pickup. I've always used a .22 and never had any problems.
