I know from experiance that a .22 will kill a chuck, but use a good hollow point such as a stinger or v-max and you have to hit them in the head! Connibear traps work good too. I've never used a 220 but have used 110's with good luck. 110's are alot cheaper. Either way just set them in front of the hole so they can't get around them. stake the trap good, good, good. If it's a big chuck I would not advise using a foot trap (#1 1/2 or #2) my buddie did this once and once only! the darn chuck got far enough back in his hole he couldn't shoot him. It took a chain and a 4-wheeler to pull him out!! As you could emagine he wasn't a happy camper. I've actually had one come after me after wounding him. Nasty little things. Kick back with a lawn chair and a case of pop and a .22 it's a lot more fun.
