Maybe if that was trapped in Colorado

But it looks like a coyote with a weird color phase going on.

Can't tell for sure without better pictures, but it looks like it might be a coydog. A cross between a coyote and domestic dog, probably a shepard. I caught one last year. Coyotes will breed with a domestic bitch if they get a chance . The off spring has traits from bitch and dog, normally more towards the coyote side.

Ill back you on that griz.I get alot of em.I was in mississippi last year and caught one with blue eyes. This year i was hog hunting with a bow and was followed by two of em.When i turned to draw down on them,They took off.Gave me a real un easy feeling.I was checking my 6 all the way back.At first i thaught they were wolves but i would lean twards coydog.Id rather see them, than know youre on the menu and wonder where they are.

looks like a huge coyote with some weird colors i would agree that its a coydog. There is a few of them around here and they tend to be darker more than lighter and alot larger.

Saw one in NY last week that dark mousing in a field as I was driving home from Gander Mountain. My buddy mounted a coyote he shot with the bow. That bugger was real dark and showed no signs of coydog at all. Not as big as the one in your picture, though.
Could be a cross, or, just a darker genetic trait and a hefty prime winter pelt!
Nice critter though, make a hell of a mount!
