what to do with a dead coyote
 

ive never gotten one but lets say i did...what should i do with it? i dont have money to do a full body mount right now but what are some other options? and also, can you eat the meat and if so is it any good?

I have seen some old-timers make sausage out of them (tried it), but personally I wouldn't touch the meat as a general rule. Coyotes are known to be highly parasitic, especially thier intestinal tract.

A head mount/pedistal mount is nice. I am waiting to get one back from the taxidermist. Also, a mount not commonly seen is a rug with felt border, and the head in open mouth pose (like a bear rug, etc.) These options might cost you around 400 bucks.

Ive seen head mounts where it like mounted on a peice of uhh... log like a fish but it has a base with like rocks and stuff it sets up like a lamp but without the light and shade...

I skin them out and keep the pelts. Haven't rugged one yet but that thought has crossed my mind a time or two.

ok since most of you are saying to skin it, do you do it like you would to a deer? or is there a special way?

Oh, god. Dont eat it. Whoever makes sausage out of them has a mental problem.

If the bullet doesn't exit (.22 HP) the pelts bring from $18 to $20.

About, the meat, find an Asian Market and they will buy a fresh kill.

I have a couple of Taxi's I call.The meat is no problem selling. Many Asians here!

There is a local trapper here that'll giveme $10 per dog unskinned.

Look for a raw fur buyer, they will take them skinned or unskinned. Usally around 10.00 to 12.00 for them. If you want ,skin it and have it tanned to hang on the wall.

if theres anyone u dont like just throw the dead yote on their doorstep or put the head in their mailbox!!i usually just cut the legs off and leave the rest of the body lay there!!!..who cares..theres alwayhs more yotes!!!

Yeah, put the yote head in their mailbox. Messing with mailboxes is only a felony.

I wish I could find someone to buy them in the round,only thing we got are a couple of traveling fur buyers. put up fur only

usually u get a few more bucks if u skin em i believe..at least that is the case with muskrats and coon...coon adds nearly $5 if therye skinned properly!!..its worth the time to skin them.it doesnt take too long..especially if theyre still warm..the hide peels right off!!

how to skin: Spray lots of bug spray first all over coyote!!!!!!:D
start on back hocks and and cut a line up the back of the leg to the anus vent. Then do the same with the other hind leg. Then cut from anus all the way down the under side of the tail. If you cut about 1/3to 1/2 thw way and work the skin off the thick part of tail you can pull the tail bone out by pulling on the bone. then just work the skin off of the body in a tube from those cuts. cut the front legs off at the elbow and becareful in the armpit area when skinning, very thin. Then continue to peel the skin off in a tube and becareful their skin is soft.
