Default porcupines

What are porcupines considered in Wisconsin? are they small game, protected, or what? I searched on the WI DNR website and can't figure it out.

There are a lot of them where i hunt and they do a ton of damage to cabins and deer hunting stands.

In NY they are a Varmit and can be taken anytime by any means.
