Default BEST VARMINT SCOPE

I have a 22-250 and plan to shoot 300 yards max and shoot yotes, beaver, bobcats, fox and a few deer. I plan on using for hunting and not competion target shooting.I don't want to spend more than $200- $300. What's the best variable power scope for the money? Indicate Brand-Model- and information e.g. 4X14#-42mm. Give me your experiences as well on scopes.

SWFA has the NikonMonarch 4 X 12 X 40with the BDC reticle, and adjustable objective on sale for $285. I bought one yesterday for a 10-22 Ruger. I can think of alot of better scopes, but none under $300. Tom.

Nikon Monarch UCC 3-9x40

or

Leupold VX-II 3-9x40

If you ever do any night hunting for predators, you will appreciate the 3x on the low end. 9x on the high end is more than enough zoom to make clean kills on coyotes at 300 yards. Both companies make very solid products, and you cannot buy better glass for $300.

You may want to check out the Mueller brand scopes. I have talked with several hunters that use the illuminated dot scopes for night hunting predators. I don't have one but will be ordering one in the next week or so. My second choice is a Bushnell elite 3200 4-15X40 with the firefly recticle. The thick crosshairs will help in low light or night calling.

I agree with the Bushnell Elite 3200 series. Have one in 5-15x50AO and love it. Couldn't ask for a better scope.

Does the Bushnell Elite have click adjustment, or friction adjustment? Tom.

Do most agree they like the heavy reticle on the outside and the thin in the center? Give me your thoughts......

I have two Bushnell Elite 3200's, and love them both. One in 5-15x50AO and the other in 5-15x40AO. I've also used the Nikon Monarch and think they are comparable. I'd recommend either.
