I've been sittin in the stand a lot with my son, trying to help him kill his first deer/hog/whatever. Well, it's been really slow for everyone on the lease this year, but we have seen a ton of squirrels. My son Hunter, always wants to shoot the squirrels and I have to tell him no because the .243 is just a little too big for the lil fur balls. Well this past weekend I brought his lil single shot .22 with us to the stand. It didn't take long before he had nailed his first tree rat. I was SO proud!
It was absolutely great!
After that, he wanted me to shoot one, so I did, then handed him his rifle. The next morning he killed 2 more, one at about 50 yards, & the other at about 80 yards. I really couldn't believe he made the long shot. He is 6 years old(7in Feb.) but he's quite a good shot. Oh well I just had to bragg. Thanks for letting my head swell a little!

Its a Marlinsingle shot .22, I'm not sure which model. One of my best friends bought it for my son as a B-day gift. My son calls my friend "Uncle Brian" and they have the same B-day. Anyway he bought the rifle "used" from Gander Mt. with the tasco already mounted. I shot it a few times and it was dead-on from the 1st shot I fired using Fed. Lightnings.
Edit to add this--that little rifle is shorter than a RedRider BB gun.
