Look at the size of this red squirrel
Look at this huge red squirrell i shot. It weighed two pounds and one ounce and was 24 inches long from the tip of its nose to the tip of its tail.
![]() ![]() It was nice eating, the meat was very tender and moist. Not dry and tough like older squirrells. Shot with a 12 gauge single shot |

It's big, and it's known as a fox squirrel. Plenty of them around here, but their numbers are starting to dwindle.

RE: waaaaaaaaaattt!
looks like a fox to me too. Grays around here are solid gray from head to tail with white belly. And they are ALWAYS smaller, but maybe that's how they are around here, who knows.
I shot my biggest fox squirrel last week and it too was huge. Not sure if it was that large or not though. |
RE: waaaaaaaaaattt!
Yes. It's a fox squirrel. Here's a link of a picture of one alive.

Definitely a fox squirrel , reds are smaller than that , more the size of greys . The ones at my house pig out on all the acorns and hickory nuts they can eat , they frequently get as big as my arm .
