Default Trapping question

When you guys catch a coyote or a fox in a trap, How do you kill it? do you shoot it or is there another manner? Also, how long do you set your trap before checking it? I do not trap.. just looking for info

Salty - check your state regulations. But I check every morning, if you catch and don't check they will chew their own foot off. As far as dispatch, for me it depends on whether I can live market it or not. They pay $100 for live market and next to nothing for skin of a yote. If I get a black one, it get either shot or gased. A black one will bring between $100 - $250 and possibly up. I can mount one and get $600 - $1000 on e-bay. Fox basically the same, just not as much $$$$. A fox you can pop on the nose and stun it then step on it's chest and suffocate. But the more humane way is to shoot it with a 22 short.
