RE: A couple coyote pics
NY- I hunt all over Indiana. Over 50 of the 92 counties.
Buckhunter- Those are mice laying on top of the fox. I called him in across a large field in broad daylight, with four mice hanging out of his mouth. He passed a female coyote on his way to me- he got there first so I popped him. Howler- I've found the definition of "Serious" to be obvious in the field but a little fuzzy when online. I've seen some guys type for five years without killing a coyote, and sadly many new guys soak up their advice because ofa high post count. Because of this, I like to test the water on a website before I get too involved in discussion- these guys seem pretty cool! |

RE: A couple coyote pics
I use electronic calling systems and hand calls both... most folks start out withhand calls and work their way up to investing in an electronic unit. A good set of calls will kill coyotes but it will also help you learn the important fundamentals behind coyote setups. I'd suggest getting a good set of hand calls, maybe a howler or two, and hitting the woods and be patient if you don't quickly see success. Modify your approach until you have some luck, then learn from the mistakes you make.
The 12 gauge will sure roll them at proper range... I used to shoot OOB but now I'm fond of the #4 Buck. It's been a while since I have killed a coyote with a shotgun, but I have a very mean machine at home to do it with. I call him the DOG CATCHER- 12 Gauge Bullpup, Red Dot Scope & 500 yard Laser Sighting System. 3" Chamber, 18" Barrel... modified from the factory. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v291/jrbhunter/Firearms2/dogcatcher106.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v291/jrbhunter/Firearms2/dogcatcher105.jpg |

RE: A couple coyote pics
Thanks for the welcoem guys! The fox had a mouth full of field mice as he came to the call... as he was bounding in they were flopping around. When I shot him he dropped, all the dead mice trapped in his jaws. I put them on top him for a pic- thought it was pretty neat. GREED!!!
