Man I am getting the itch...BAD!!! I can't wait till sept. 1st. My buddy and I have the day off and plan on spending the whole day.

I sighted in my Marlin at 25 yards hitting dime size stickers.

Now my dilema is do I use my Marlin .22 model 60 with a cheap Tasco 4X scope or my new Savage .17 HMR with a Bushnell 3-9X40mm scope.

I think I might bring both(leave one in the car). Leaves are always thick so the powerful scope will help.

I've been squirrel hunting lots this season, and the only thing I came back with was poison ivy, myself, and my 20 gauge.

If I were in your shoes, I'd be trying out that .17 and leaving the .22 at home. Might as well give the .17 a good day in the woods to see how it does.

Like mudder said Oct. 1 fer me.but in my parts of the woods ther are know fox squirrels. Just gray ones. I was raised in the Ozarks of Mo. so I'm used too killing them big fox squirrels. I miss hunting them in the Ozarks. I have a five year old that loves to go. But Bow season starts Oct. 14 so will will only have 14 days to hunt.

September 9 here in Arkansas. I will wait for a few weeks however until the first frost so there is not so many bugs and snakes. My dad and Grandpa started me out on squirrels and I love hunting bushytails to this day. Only a few more years until I get my son started. Good hunting.
