both remington and savage make an affordable, accurate out of the box rifle but both will need trigger work done.the remington model 700-ADL with the synthetic stock runs for around 300 to 400 bucks depending on where you buy it.i,m not sure in the savage model or price but i think its about the same price.

What kind of trigger work are you talking about? I'm thinking about getting a Rem 700-ADL 22.250.

You cant beat a savage if youre on a budget, very accurate out of the box,no NEED for a trigger job but is nice if you have the money.A remington will cost AT LEAST an extra hundred

kshunter, the savages i,m not sure about but the remington triggers have between 5 and 8 pounds of pull to fire, plus they have alot of creep or travel.first they need that travel taken out then the poundage needs to be lowered.2 to 3 pounds is a good point to put it at for hunting, much lower for target or compatition shooting.this of caurse should only be done by experienced gun smiths.had my ADL done for 45 bucks, its not that expencive and well worth it.
