I hope you realize shooting song birds is illegal. Posting it here that you are about to shoot some isn't very smart.

Just practice on paper targets. No need to shoot robins. It can land you with a huge fine and possibly make it impossible to get a hunting license in the future.

Think about it!

In fact it can be a federal violation, robbins being federally protected. There are some people who just get off in killing. Those people should be removed from the ranks of hunters!

Depends.

If you're talking about a .177 pellet, yes, but I agree with the above posted range of 50 ft. or less.

But if that's a .22 cal pellet, then I'd set the range at 30 yds. or 90 ft.

I've shot them at up to 30 yds with a .22 pellet, head shots but it kills them right then & there.

200fps

At close range can you kill a crow or pigeon with 200fps

Shot placement and gear knowledge.

I shoot traditional archery over compounds and crossbows and it is much slower. Compounds shoot on average around 320fps, crossbows probably around 340 and some reach up to 450. The way I counter this is I shoot a heavier grain arrow and know and understand my gear. Since I'm not shooting fast i have to have the power on my side.

When I was a kid I killed smaller game (squirrels and doves) with a red rider bb gun. Just got to know where to shoot it.
