squirrel hunting never done it. have a 12ga.
I have never thought about squirrel huntingtill I got on this board and I see how good it can be for eating. It kind of shocked me. My question is how do I even start hunting them? I have a 12ga Remington Super Mag Express combo. I am just thinking of giving it a try. I am just wondering how do I even start with them? With the Coyotte problem we have it is hard to get hem out of the trees and I am not even sure how many we have. I am just thinking for something to practice on since this is my first year of hunting.
Thanks

They are fun to hunt. A shotgun works great I personally use a .22 just my preferance though. I would use number 6 shot but I have seen people use lighter loads. A full choke would be best. Just walk around and listen for barking then do a stalk to find them. I sit on a log and listen for acorns dropping from trees and wait or stalk. I also use a squirrel distress call which will make they sound off or even come to see what is the matter.Hope this helps and Good Luck!!
